This is an examination by Sigmund Freud of Ernest Jones’ analysis of Joan Rivière.

Note: Previous correspondence from Jones to Freud of 22nd May 1922 Letter 359 & 26th May 1922 Letter 361 give the background to Freud’s comments. On a postcard dated 31st May 1922, Letter 362, Sigmund Freud states:

‘I shall compose a long letter consisting of three parts, containing in 1 and 2 some analytic remarks on two interesting personalities, in 3 some practical proposals.
