Difference between body & a bag of organs – mystery is the union between the body & language – creates hole in language.

add a step : in the joint of language & body, knotting the body enjoys itself (Seminar XX) Probably Seminar XXIII : 16th December 1975 : pIII 13 of Cormac Gallagher’s translation : On the other hand, the enjoyment described as phallic is situated there, at the conjunction of the Symbolic with the Real. It is in as much that in the subject which is supported by the parlêtre  in the sense that this is what I designate as being the unconscious, …

Jouissance not addressed to someone else & does not come from someone else.

Quote from Preface to the English-language edition of Seminar XI : 17th May 1976 : Jacques Lacan  or here ]

One (self) knows this  p2 of Freud2Lacan : Sheridan translates One knows,  Grigg translates Self knows this.  Shanahan questions the translation.

core of analysis is this embodiment

__________________________________________-

’the analyst is the symptom : Seminar XXIII : 13th April 1976 : See Seminar XXIII: The Sinthome or Joyce and the Sinthome: 1975-1976: beginning on November 18th 1975 : Jacques Lacan or here  : p116 of Adrian Price’s translation : pX 10 of Cormac Gallagher’s translation, quote, I think that effectively the psychoanalyst cannot conceive of himself otherwise than as a sinthome. It is not psychoanalysis that is a sinthome, it is the psychoanalyst. That is how I will reply to what was put to me as a question earlier. The fact is that it is the psychoanalyst who is, when all is said and done, a help of whom, in the terms of Genesis, one can say that, that he is in short a reversal (retournement). Since moreover the Other of the Other, is what I have just defined now as the little hole there. That the little hole might be able to provide a help all [X 11] by itself, it is precisely in this that the hypothesis of the Unconscious has its support. The hypothesis of the Unconscious, as freud underlines, is something which, which cannot hold up except by supposing the Name-of-the-Father. Supposing the Name-of-the-father, certainly, is God. It is in this that, that psychoanalysis, by succeeding, proves that one can moreover do without the Name-of-the Father. One can moreover do without it provided one makes use of it.

This quotation is related to Miller’s text & although there are 3 references to Seminar XXIII, this is not one of them.

In later seminars the analyst is not object a within a discourse, it is a matter of being object a.

Lacanian use the sceptic & the invocatory drive.  In an analysis both the analyst & the analysand contribute their body.
